Every change the engine has had, in plain English. When a rating is wrong we say so, change it, and write down what changed — because a battle engine nobody can check is just an opinion with extra steps.
Ratings that were wrong, and what they are now. Newest first.
Added his All-Black dagger and flight. The dagger kills a god and the living darkness forms wings that carry him into space (Thor: God of Thunder #6).
Added the Necrosword as a bladed weapon. He impales Thor with it in King in Black #3.
Added pain tolerance. Arrian describes him fighting on briefly after an arrow pierced his chest at the Mallian town, before collapsing and being protected by his companions.
Added pain tolerance. After losing his arm in chapter 1 he stays calm through heavy bleeding and still drives off the Sea King.
Added a low pain tolerance. She breaks her own nose to break the pheromone lock and keeps fighting (Black Widow, 2021).
Added pain tolerance. Impaled on rebar, he frees himself and keeps fighting until he is rescued (The Walking Dead season 9).
Added the boomstick (marksmanship). His shotgun is shown dropping Deadites (Army of Darkness).
Added a low pain tolerance. Billy keeps going after stab wounds and gets back up after being shot, until the final head shot (Scream, 1996).
Added pain tolerance. Kingpin sinks the unconscious Matt in a cab in the East River and he breaks out and swims to safety (Daredevil #229); he fights Bullseye with a broken arm (#200).
Removed a rating that treated him as non-biological. Tolkien describes the wizards as having real bodies that feel pain and weariness and can be slain.
Removed a weakness that said her power depended on the Hourglass. She uses her time powers herself in her fights; the Hourglass and the Crown only take her power further.
Changed who can use his gas weakness: from one specific item to anyone who obtains the specialised Novichok gas that the Russians, Mallory and the Boys each used to knock him out. Other chemicals are not implied. This is a data correction only; it does not add a gas attack to fights.
Replaced a fear-empowerment rating with the right mechanic: Ultra Ego grows stronger from damage taken and battle lust ("damage is nothing but fuel for me"), not from an opponent's fear. The rating level is unchanged.
Added his bulletproof suit as armour. It stops handgun and rifle rounds to the body in Chapters 2 to 4; it does not protect his head or hands, or stop blades and blunt blows.
Added brawling and pain tolerance. He wins many fistfights in the story, and after Colm's men torture him he breaks free, kills a guard and rides back before collapsing.
Removed a weakness that tied his powers to the cosmic treadmill. The treadmill accident gave him his powers; nothing shows that breaking it would take them away.
Removed a weakness that said something outside him could be destroyed to beat him. Nothing like that is shown for this version, and it does not make him immortal: a sword killed him in Flashpoint #5.
Removed a cyborg-enhancement rating. G1 Optimus is a living robot from Cybertron, not an enhanced organic being.
Removed an invulnerability rating. In the classic shorts he is flattened, burnt and crushed all the time; he recovers afterwards, which is not the same as being immune to harm.
Removed a weakness that said she could be beaten on the story layer. In Episode 8 she hands the diary back by choice and beats Lambdadelta by skipping to the end; nobody defeats her that way.
Removed a general fragility weakness. It was only ever destroyed by an equal's finishing attack in the film's final clash, which does not make it unusually easy to break.
Removed an unsupported divine-authority rating. How Gold Experience Requiem's return-to-zero works in fights is being reviewed separately.
Removed a weakness that treated the Black Heart as an outside anchor an opponent could destroy. It sits inside his chest, and the manhwa never shows anyone able to use it against him.
Removed two weaknesses: being easy to manipulate, and needing wind-up time before attacks. Up to the end of season 2 he is never exploitably fooled in a fight, and only Megiddo needs setting up in advance.
Removed a divine-authority rating and a weakness that treated a holy sword as an outside anchor for his life. The rated Anos is season 1 of the anime, where he beats gods by force, not by command over them; the sword that can wound his source is a weapon, not a tether.
Removed energy absorption, which the reviewed Marvel Earth-616 stories do not establish; his own lightning has been turned back on him.
Removed teleportation. The novel shows It appearing to different people around Derry, but not moving its body instantly in a fight.
Lowered his fragility from major to minor. Being hurt by Yhwach is not unusual fragility.
Corrected his vulnerability to sealing: several different seals held him in the novel, so it is not only the Buddha who can. It still takes a seal strong enough to hold him.
Corrected how his Chaos Emerald dependence is recorded: Eggman drained the Emeralds with a specialised machine. This is a data correction; it does not add a new rule to fights.
Corrected how his dream dependence is recorded: ordinary people deny him dream access without any unique item. This is a data correction; it does not add a new rule to fights.
Removed a dark-energy dependency. Nothing shows him needing a supply of it, or anyone using it to shut him down.
Removed a weakness to being talked down. He stopped fighting because his own memories returned, not because an opponent manipulated him.
Removed a weakness that treated the Hogyoku as an off-switch. Gin tore it out of him and he kept evolving.
Removed a borrowed-power weakness. The Quirks he steals are his to keep; nobody can switch them off from outside.
Removed the time limit. It came from the wound All For One gave him; the rated All Might is the healthy prime hero.
Removed invulnerability and the heel weakness. The rated Achilles is Homer's: in the Iliad a spear draws blood from his arm, and the dip in the Styx is a later Roman story. He is a superb fighter in divine armour, not an unkillable one.
Removed regeneration. The classical Heracles is hurt and stays hurt, and dies from the poisoned tunic; he never regrows in a fight.
Removed summoning. The souls and Spartan soldiers he can call are separate fighters, and fights here are one on one.
Removed energy blasts and telekinesis, and lowered his fragility from critical to major. Air Force is air pressure from his punches and flicks, Blackwhip is physical tendrils that must reach the target, and final-war Deku takes heavy hits.
The flag button under every result is the most useful thing on this site. You do not need to explain yourself — “Naruto’s faster than that” was enough to find a character with no speed rating at all. Sign in first and we will credit you here by name.
