You might not of seen many update posts being done recently but trust me there is a lot.
You might not have seen many update posts recently, but trust me, there's a lot going on.
I used to post every day about what I'd been doing that day, and I haven't done it for a while, but the daily tests and fixes are so much bigger now. Every time we patch something or add characters, we have to run them through the rankings, and the number of possible matchups is over 900k, so that takes a long time to simulate.
This is why you've all probably seen me building different things. I can't just sit still, so if I've got spare time I'll use it, and I've been trying to give you all some cool stuff in the meantime.
Everything might look absolutely random, but I can assure you it's not. Everything being built is a prototype to test something that will slot together into something much larger in the future. Even the football one was a sneaky way to build a movement engine and get teams of characters to work together and chase each other. The 3D world is to test our limits on how much we can build without lagging on your phones or desktops. I've also built a physics world, which I haven't published yet, to create a physics engine for different powers and how they would actually affect a city. Right now there are laser beams that cut holes in buildings, and Kamehamehas that absolutely blow huge buildings to pieces and leave craters. You can even open portals and send people places. It's pretty cool.
It's all so that eventually we can have fantastic worlds for you to go out and battle in with characters, and create your own characters and level them up with quests, etc.
There's so much coming in the future. We're just building the massive frameworks for it all. I know there are still some characters not 100% fully mapped and some fights that resolve the wrong way, and fixing those is our main commitment, because once they're all solved we can go absolutely nuts with this, and there won't be another place like it.
Tonight marks stage one of the Unbound event: https://whowinsai.com/the-unbound/
Have fun,
Doom
