New mode / Area - Across Worlds.
I have released a prototype of a new area for the site called Across Worlds. It's an interactive world featuring locations from some of your favourite universes.
Right now it's in very early development while I test the mechanics, but it will gradually be upgraded, expanded and filled with much more to discover.
The idea is that you'll be able to walk between different areas and enter familiar places such as Wayne Manor, Avengers Tower, Jujutsu High and Kame House, where you can even visit Master Roshi.
These locations will eventually be filled with lore, character information, universe history, Easter eggs and other things to discover, so you'll be able to explore while learning more about the characters and worlds.
There is already a central Battle Hub, where you can walk inside and run normal WhoWins battles from the in-world terminals without having to leave Across Worlds.
The bigger picture is where this gets really exciting.
Across Worlds will eventually provide the foundation for larger site events and game modes. I'm planning things like Escape the City, Guardian Mode, where you choose characters to protect a VIP, survival and retrieval scenarios, and a wide range of player-vs-player games taking place around the map.
Once these systems are working properly, the eventual goal is a Sandbox Mode that will give members tools to create and host their own games, challenges and scenarios for other players to attempt.
We'll also be building creator tools and polishing how games and battles are presented so that, if you want to, you'll be able to turn your runs into great-looking videos for TikTok, YouTube, Instagram or wherever else you want to share them.
This is only the beginning and the current version is mainly there for me to test what works, so expect plenty to change.
