Big update 5th September
A week of work — what actually changed
Something like 100 hours went into the site over the past week. Most of it isn't visible from the outside, so here's the honest account.
The engine had a problem I didn't know about
Nearly two thirds of mid-tier fights had one side with no way to win at all. Not a disadvantage — no route. That's why you kept seeing "X cannot end the fight" on matchups where it made no sense.
It turned out to be two things. A fighter who could genuinely hurt someone wasn't given a route unless they also out-ranked them, so Doomsday couldn't hurt Thor. And "tough but killable" was being ignored entirely for anyone above street level, which quietly cancelled that weakness for thirty characters. Both fixed. The worst cases went from 33% down to 4%.
A lot of characters simply couldn't be beaten
Not because they were strong — because nothing was recorded that an opponent could use. 153 characters had no exploitable weakness whatsoever. That's now 46, and nearly all of those are deliberate, with a reason written down for each.
Escanor's power falling with the sun wasn't on his sheet. Neither was Ulquiorra's regeneration failing on organs, or All Might's time limit, or Killua's Godspeed running out.
Some characters were badly under-rated
Batman was losing to everyone — his fighting, gear and preparation were all rated 1 to 3. Sanji had every single stat at 4 or 5, for a man whose neck breaks a sword. Doomsday couldn't finish anyone.
And some were over-rated
Being described as immensely powerful isn't the same as being shown doing it. The Lord of Nightmares' big feat was beating a demon in her own setting — impressive there, not the same as beating a Monitor. Scarlet Witch has never actually killed anyone at that tier. Both came down.
Combat intelligence was rebalanced across 61 characters. Being clever now counts for much less unless you genuinely out-think people mid-fight.
Rules that emerged and now apply everywhere
Fights are one encounter between two fighters. If a weakness needs a third party, a specific place, or a previous death, it doesn't apply. That's why Doomsday's "can't die the same way twice" isn't modelled, and why Hancock's dependence on Mary isn't either.
Characters are rated at their peak. Michael Myers is the Shape, not the old man who dies at the end.
Housekeeping
Kratos was five separate entries that were really the same character. Now one. Sonic was three. Now two. Anubis was a mix of four different versions and has been rebuilt as the Egyptian god.
What this means for you
More fights now have a real answer instead of a stalemate. Some results have changed, and a few will look wrong — flag them. Two of this week's biggest fixes came directly from flags, including one that had been sitting open for weeks.
