WhoWinsAI is run by one person. This page explains what the site collects, why, and how to get rid of it. It describes what the site actually does rather than covering every possibility, and it is updated whenever that changes.
Every page load records your IP address, the page you looked at, your browser's user agent string, the site you arrived from if any, and the time. This produces the visitor and battle counts shown on the site. Known or detected crawlers and bots are filtered from the site's visitor statistics where possible.
Accounts need a username and a password and nothing else. There is no email address field, so the site holds no email address for you. Passwords are stored only as a cryptographic hash and cannot be read back.
You may optionally add a short bio, a favourite character and universe, an avatar image URL, and handles for Twitter, Discord, Reddit or YouTube. All of that is optional, all of it is visible to other users, and you can clear it at any time.
The site also keeps your post count, battle and prediction points, your win/loss record, when you joined and when you were last seen.
Because there is no email address on file, there is no password recovery. If you lose your password there is no way for the site to verify who you are, and the account cannot be restored.
Battles are logged with the fighters chosen, the result, and a one-way hash derived from your IP address rather than the address itself. This is used to count how many separate people are using the site.
WhoWinsAI does not sell its account data or user database to anyone. Advertising partners may process or share information for advertising purposes, as described in the Mediavine section below, and some US state laws treat that as a "sale" or "share" — you can opt out using the controls described there.

The verdict in every battle is decided by this site's own engine. The write-up that explains it is generated using Anthropic's Claude API, which receives the two fighters and the engine's reasoning. It does not receive your IP address, your account, or anything identifying you.

The site itself sets a session cookie when you sign in, which keeps you logged in and nothing more. Google Analytics and Mediavine's advertising partners set their own cookies as described above.
